The Study Lounge

SSPX0009.jpg
Here is one section of the study lounge. On most occasions this is the section of the lounge where people socialize and talk. The chairs are bigger and more comfortable than the ones at the table so its a more laid back feeling. There is one table in the middle and one smaller one off to the side incase people to want to do work in these chairs or play a game together. I've also seen people choose to sit in these if they plan on being in the lounge for awhile if they have a lot of reading or work to do and want to stay comfortable.

This picture of the study lounge shows the tables and soda machine. The tables tend to be used more for the people coming in strictly to do work because its a hard surface and the chairs and table are the same height compared to the big chairs in which the table is lower than them. I have used these tables with multiple people when we were studying and we were able to lay our notes out and talk about everything together. The soda machine also gets used, not only by people needing caffeine to study, but random people who just want soda who come in and out. In some ways I find it a distraction because anyone can come in and when a lot of people come in and out to use it I tend to get distracted or even start conversations with them if I know them.

This year I have found it rare that the study lounge is full. Every time I have gone in so far this semester I have either gotten distracted by people coming in and out to use the soda machine or there have been groups of freshman using it to socialize. I feel like the lounge is not a very private place to socialize because anyone in there can hear your full conversation. Last semester I used the lounge a lot more for study groups and just to go by myself and do work.
